The following section discusses rules relating to how Players interact with NPCs.
Most importantly, players should always be respectful of NPCs. They are individuals who are volunteering their time to make the game more fun for everyone and improve the player experience. They do not fight to “win,” and they have no incentive to do so. When fighting NPCs, players should continue to follow all safety rules and never forget that there is a real person behind the mask. Players should exercise control when in combat with NPCs and never use excessive force, even on larger monsters.
An enemy NPC’s hit points remain unknowable to players. A given NPC may be more powerful than expected or may be under some type of curse that players are not aware of. This also applies to magic, as not every enemy will respond the same way to every spell. For example, players may find that larger enemies are less susceptible to their spells or physical attacks than smaller enemies, like Bandits. Players are encouraged to continue attacking an enemy until it is downed, rather than attempting guesswork over the stats or HP of the enemy. Enemies may occasionally get back up after being downed. If this occurs, the above rules still apply.
Giant Monsters are qualified as any enemy NPC that is clearly larger than a human. As referenced in the combat section, Giant Monsters deal 3 points of damage per strike and “break” shields after one strike, rendering them useless for the rest of the encounter.
Outside of a safety issue (which is covered in the combat section), players are NEVER permitted to break character and immersion to argue with an NPC over rules. If a player truly feels like an NPC is knowingly or unknowingly not following game mechanics, this can be reported to Staff after the encounter, and they will get to the bottom of it.
